Very Decorative Original Dutch Delft Polychrome Chinoisserie plaque, circa: 1740.

This is an original plaque out of the 18th century and very collectable, the hanging hole for the nail on the wall is original as well, you can see this because the glaze is running true the hanging hole.

The plaque is painted with the very interesting subject of two Chinese porcelain painters.

In excellent un restored original condition, no repairs!

Dutch Delftware refers to tin-glazed earthenware produced primarily in and around Delft in the Netherlands, heavily influenced by imported East Asian porcelain during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

These plaques were formed from refined earthenware clay, coated in an opaque white tin enamel glaze, decorated by hand using metal oxide pigments, and fired to achieve rich polychrome imagery.

Authentic period examples feature earthenware bodies, faint glaze crawling or pinholes, cobalt blue and earthy enamel painting, and moulded Rococo borders often complete with suspension holes.
