Regency Mahogany Card Table

19th century
Description

An elegant mahogany card table dating from the early 19th century. The top edges have a beaded border typical of the regency period and a central carved motif. It stands on a large column support with further carved detail and the same repeating beaded border around the quatrefoil base. It has large lions paw feet with brass castors below.

The table top swivels and opens out into a card table, the inside lined with green baize, and on turning the top it reveals a small storage area below.

It is in very good condition with a lovely rich colour and grain. It is strong and sturdy with no major damages and is ready for use. There are signs of age and use, some surface marks and knocks and a small shrinkage split in the base but nothing untoward. The baize has a few small marks and a little bit of wear along the crease but it is certainly still usable. The table has not been completely repolished and there are some minor areas of wear in the finish but it has been cleaned and waxed and displays well.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
