Rare 17th Century Elm Trestle Table

Description

A rare and documented Elm Trestle Table of remarkable figure , colour and patination.

Tables of this nature are spectacular to the eye and are not often seen on the market.

Three well figured boards to the top which are supported by shaped trestle ends with Gothic arches to the base. All connected by scratch moulded rails that are wedged through the trestle ends.

Documentation of this table can be found in " Furniture In England , The Age Of The Joiner by S.W.Wolsey and R.W.P. Luff"

The book details varying forms of furniture through the period and the table can be seen pictured in fig 50 and its construction discussed on page 47.
