Superb quality early C19th Goncalo Alves circular centre table .

Impressive and strikingly figured Goncalo Alves or Albuera wood centre table on triangular stepped central column raised on a carved tri-form concave-sided base with boldly carved scroll feet with leaf detail. Fitted with concealed brass castors stamped “Copes Patent” .

The frieze of the solid timber top with well-carved leaf detail and having a carved edge . Fitted with gilded brass tilting mechanism and gilded brass bolts to secure the top.

In excellent original condition having a rich colour and patina , with only minor historic blemishes to the top .

The quality of construction , choice and selection of timber , quality of fittings and overall style , having a strong resonance to the work of the esteemed cabinet-making firm of Gillows of Lancaster.
