FAQs

Art Deco emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by geometric shapes, stylised motifs, streamlined forms, and the use of exotic veneers and contrasting inlay details.

Traditional tables typically feature multi-slate bed foundations for a perfectly level playing surface, housed within heavy hardwood frames such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, often finished with handcrafted leather pockets and wool baize.

Authentic period tables can be identified by the weight and thickness of the multi-piece slate bed, traditional makers plaques, hand-cut dovetail joints, and period-accurate wood finishes without modern synthetic glues or fixings.

Position the table as a central focal point in a dedicated games room or open-plan living space, pairing it with minimalist lighting fixtures and contemporary seating to balance the historical weight of the timber.

Maintain a stable room temperature and humidity to protect the wooden frame and slate bed from warping, brush the woollen baize regularly with a directional billiard brush, and cover the table when not in use to prevent dust and fading.
