These fine tables have panelled backs surrounded by fine beaded mouldings.
The tops are also finely bookmatched and have very wide bands of crossbanding. The tops are supported on friezes which are decorated on all sides with a deep reeded design. Disguised within the friezes are long drawers. Long scrolling supports with carved paterae on the sides lead from the frieze to a platform base which is elaborately shaped. The platform stands on four flattened bun feet.

It is highly unusual to find a pair of console tables that employ so many different forms of ornament in one design successfully. The use of carved detail and inlay, plus the contrasting rectangular form and sinuous scrolled decoration and reeding works extremely well. In addition the veneers used throughout are top quality and the tables have a lovely colour. A very unusual and distinctive pair of tables.
