FAQs

The George III period spans from 1760 to 1820 and is characterised by a transition from heavier Palladian designs to lighter, more refined neoclassical styles influenced by designers such as Thomas Chippendale, George Hepplewhite, and Thomas Sheraton.

Master craftsmen typically utilised dense tropical hardwoods like Cuban or Honduras mahogany, often incorporating fine veneers, hand-cut dovetail joints in drawer construction, and cast brass hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage consistent with age, old secondary woods like pine or oak in non-visible areas, and traditional hand-applied French polish finishes.

Pairing historical wooden furniture with modern minimalist decor, abstract art, or neutral walls creates a balanced contrast that highlights the rich grain and craftsmanship of the antique piece.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, maintain consistent indoor humidity levels, and clean surface dust periodically with a dry, soft cloth without using silicone-based polishes.
