Bargeware, often referred to as Measham ware, is a style of 19th-century British earthenware characterised by a dark brown Rockingham glaze, colourful sprigged floral motifs, and custom stamped plaques. It was historically associated with canal boat families and gifted for special occasions such as weddings.

Bargeware ceramics were typically thrown from local red clay and covered in a rich manganese brown glaze. Decorative elements, including flowers, foliage, and text plaques, were separately molded as clay sprigs and applied to the unfired body before glazing and firing.

Authentic pieces feature heavy red clay bodies, deep treacle-brown glazes, and hand-applied polychrome relief decoration. A key identifying characteristic is the lid finial, which frequently takes the form of a miniature teapot.
