We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The Late Georgian period, spanning the late 18th to early 19th century, is characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and a transition towards more functional and elegant domestic furnishings.

Master craftsmen of this era predominantly utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany and oak, often incorporating fine veneers, brass hardware, and intricate turnings for structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage consistent with age, authentic patination, and period brass fixtures without modern machine markings.

These versatile pieces function effectively as side tables or occasional surfaces in a living room, adding warmth and historical contrast when paired with clean-lined modern upholstery and neutral walls.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, applying natural beeswax periodically, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.
