Description

Very decorative and good quality French 19th century marble top and mirrored back console table in the Louis Philippe style, circa 1840 and in good original condition.

Interestingly this console has a hidden drawer which is accessed through the back of the console table…perhaps a modification to hide valuables during the war years…but certainly not a recent alteration.

The original mercury mirror glass back has just the right amount of foxing to the edges and has the original panel backing too.

Well figured mahogany throughout, scrolling shaped legs with lions paw feet and stands on a concave plinth base.

Unusual marble top, certainly looks to be the original and a lovely colour contrast to the rich mahogany tone.

Good solid condition and has been cleaned and waxed to to give a wonderful mellow glow.
