Description

For sale this very fine Japanese Arita rectangular dish, dating circa 1710. Finely decorated in a very specific style and pattern which dates between 1700 and 1730. The decoration is for Japanese taste in subject matter and design. Six character mark to base, the dish is approx 21cm long by approx 10cm wide and 3.8cm deep. The dish is in undamaged or restored condition and is free from hairlines or chips. The interior just shows slight wear in a couple of places only, as shown in the pics.

This rare example is one of a know group of dishes of the same design and six character mark to the base. See Volume 8 of the Shibata Collection Plate 74 on page 51, Five identical dishes.
