No repairs or damage other than natural signs of age.
Thornycroft created numerous busts and statues for Queen Victoria, chiefly of the royal children.
She also executed a number of busts of private individuals, as well as a few ideal statues. Among the latter is her well-known figure of a 'Skipping Girl'. Most of her works were portraits of the royal children that were commissioned by Queen Victoria.
Princess Alexandra of Denmark married Albert Edward, Prince of Wales in 1863 when she was eighteen years old and this bust was made following that event. She became Queen consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions and Empress consort of India in 1901 when Albert Edward ascended the English throne as King Edward VII following the death of Queen Victoria.
