Displaying a graceful design where elements of the hand-shaped details are visible throughout, demonstrating a wonderful deep black patina. Featuring a tall raised mouth opening with flared rim spout on a domed-edged top narrowing to a tapered bottom. A graceful shape that would lend itself well to an array of interiors.

Originating from Shanxi province during the Qing dynasty, these high-fired stoneware jars were primarily crafted for the storage and transport of rice wine, oil, and grain. Their utilitarian design made them essential vessels across northern China throughout the nineteenth century.

These vessels were hand-thrown using local heavy clay and coated in a dark, iron-rich glaze. The high firing temperatures produced a durable stoneware structure with subtle tonal variations ranging from deep brown to black.
