Description

The beautiful ARMORIAL PORCELAIN COMPORT dates from circa 1880.

Possibly made at the MINTON Factory, the COMPORT is decorated with a brown transfer of the ARMS of THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF ARMOURERS AND BRASIERS, one of the LIVERY COMPANIES OF LONDON. This year, 2022, they are celebrating their 700th Anniversary.

Raised on FOUR LION'S PAW FEET, the COMPORT is richly enhanced with gilt and turquoise blue 'jewelling'.

It is stamped 'GARDNER'S STRAND LONDON' to the underside, who may well have been the suppliers.

The condition is good. There is no restoration. There is only minor wear to the gilt and some very slight discolouration.
