Shaun King Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.

The back bears the Maker's Mark for PINDER, BOURNE & HOPE, Fountain Place, Nile Street, Burslem (1851-1860) and the Pattern Name - CRYSTAL PALACE. As this Firm was founded in 1851 this may well have been one of their first commissions.

The subsequent owner of this PLATTER thought it of such importance that they wanted to display it on the wall and have very skilfully drilled two small holes in the well for a hanging wire to pass through.

Condition: No cracks or restoration. An old, thin, surface chip to the back rim which is not visible from the front. Minor discolouration in places.
