Antique Porcelain Portrait Miniature Madame Le Brun

Description

This is a very attractive 19th century portrait miniature hand painted on porcelain of Elizabeth Vigee Le Brun commonly known as Madame Le Brun and her daughter.

Madame Le Brun was a prominent 18th century portrait painter and official portraitist of Marie Antoinette. Her paintings are usually classed as in the Rococo Style and examples of her work are held in the Louvre the National Gallery in London the Hermitage Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The portrait is attractively framed in an oval gilt metal frame with ribbon mount and has a stand and hanger to the back.

The frame measures 11 cms high by 8 cms wide.
