Pair Chinese Porcelain Bough Pots & Covers, C. 1760. Qianlong Period.

Description

Fine pair of Chinese porcelain bough pots and covers, Qianlong Period (1736 -1795). Hand painted in famille rose or fencai enamels, with panels of dishes of fruit upon stands, alongside vases of flowers, with insects flying above. Further panels of insects flying amongst flowers, beneath the gilded branch handles.

The canted sides, moulded and enamelled with squirrels amongst graping vines. Having pedestal foot rims, painted with swags of flowers.

Each pot surmounted by covers with five circular gilt rimmed apertures, and having twin gilt branch handles, terminating with grape vines. Painted with floral sprays, and insects. The covers sit upon four Ruyi scroll supports, within the bases.

Height: 23 cm, 9”.

Width: 19.5 cm, 7 5/8”.

Depth: 19.5 cm, 7 5/8”.

Condition: Typical age related minor wear to the enamels, and the gilding. No damage. No restoration.
