Porcelain Plaque of the Madonna Della Sedia by Raphael

A superb hand painted porcelain plaque after Raphael’s Madonna della Sedia painted in 1513 and housed in the Pitti Palace, Florence. The German porcelain is beautifully painted with great detail and is in superb condition. The work is mounted in the most wonderful Italian carved wood frame which mirrors exactly the frame of the original. The frame would have been carved and gilded in Florence. The frame is in excellent condition with the original gilding and only a few small repairs. These porcelain copies of Renaissance works were made for the tourist market and vary in quality enormously this example is one of the best. A hugely decorative piece with instant grand country house impact. C.1880.
