Large Mintons China Works Blue Tit Tile C1890

Description

This interesting MINTONS CHINA WORKS TILE, which measures 8 inches (20 cm) square, is decorated with TWO BLUE TITS on a NEST built on a CHERRY TREE branch.

The back of the TILE has been painted with small designs which could well be studies for later work. There is also a signature S. LEAKE to one corner. All of this is under glaze.

There is chipping and rubbing to the edges of the Tile and glaze flakes to one bird's head and one egg. There is no restoration.

This TILE is a lovely colour.
