This rare, complete example of early Chinese, lead glazed, earthenware dates from the Han dynasty 206BC -AD220.It is a model of a farmhouse complete with four rams or possibly goats. Sculptural pottery pieces of symbolised items or buildings that a person would need in the afterlife and may also have been made to show that a person had status here on Earth. This early example of tomb pottery, Chinese name, mingqi, retains much of its original brown glaze. A similar example with a green glaze is on show in the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in NewYork.
