Rare Palissy Style Majolica Frog, Portuguese, circa 1880

unmarked pottery probably made by Cunha or Mafra

A charming model, the frog detailed, well coloured and modelled in high relief.

Found sat, lifting the front of his body clear of the base, unusually lively and expressive for this ware.

Insignificant losses, nibbles and abrasions to the frogs mouth and eyes, rim chips to base, in overall very good bright sound condition.

Length of base 3,3/4" or 94mm.

Weight 98 grams.
