Description

A George Jones majolica squirrel dish, c. 1875. The dish, moulded in high relief, with a large leaf, and flowering branch. Surmounted by a finely moulded squirrel, holding a large nut. Covered in typical majolica glazes.

The underside decorated in a ‘tortoiseshell’ glaze. Impressed ‘GJ’ monogram mark, and Registration lozenge. Script model number.

Length - 25.3 cm, 10”.

Depth - 23.5 cm, 9 1/4”.

Height - 10.2 cm, 4”.

Condition - Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
