Description

Two attractive stoneware jars of character believed to be “two gallon flagons” & quite possibly filled originally with Somerset cider (known locally as scrumpy but also often called natch).

As you can see both of these are in untouched original condition & were made for merchants in the Somerset Town Of Bridgwater. This Somerset town had very many pubs & inns in the Victorian period, the town itself having a main line railway for distribution throughout the country plus being a major port on the tidal river Parrett which allowed shipping around the world
