Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
There are two minor flaws, one to the mustard pot base where the small chip appears to have been done during manufacture as the glaze appears over the top of the blemish; and secondly a tiny graze to the foot of the salt; both mentioned for accuracy.
All of the pieces have matching impressed marks to the bases plus two sets of incised decorator's marks NG and ES; the manufacture date is also impressed for 1881.
The silver plated caddy is marked on the underside for John Harrison & Sons of Sheffield.
The colours and design of the pottery are highly decorative and most appealing.
An excellent set with the caddy measuring 5" x 5" x 6 1/2" tall. The peppers measure 3 1/2" tall.
