Qianlong Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Mug

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: TJR Trading

This is an 18th Century Chinese porcelain mug dating from the rule of Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795). It is hand painted with enamels in the famille rose palette.

The mug has a diaper border, over another border with foliate reserves, above a pink scale border with Rococo styled edge. This is above three floral sprays, the flowerheads in hues of pink and purple. The moulded handle is in the form of a serpent.

There is a chip to the rim measuring approximately 3mm in diameter. The handle has been glued on both ends. Otherwise it appears in good condition with wear commensurate to age.
