Description

A Japanese porcelain dish, Arita, c. 1720, Edo Period. The dish moulded in the shape of an abalone or awabe shell. Painted in underglaze blue, with a scene of rocks and plants in a river, amongst stylised waves. The reverse with further water plants above waves.

Underglaze blue Chenghua four character mark, surrounded by a circle, within an unglazed foot rim. Length - 16 cm, 6 1/4”.

Width - 13 cm, 5 1/8”.

Height - 3.5 cm, 1 3/8”.

Condition - Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
