Japanese Arita Blue and White Gallipot Dating to the Late 17th Century

Description

For sale a very good Japanese Blue and white Arita Gallipot dating to the late 17th century. Decorated to the main body with pomegranate and flower heads, a well-known design. Four examples can be seen pages 105 and 105 Japanese Export Porcelain of the Ashmolean Museum Oxford, by Oliver Impey. The bottle is in excellent condition and is well painted with good underglaze blue tones. The very top lip with only a small chip professionally restored. Some glaze crazing, which is common to these early wares. Size approx. 21.5cm tall by approx. 13.5cm wide. A fine example.
