Meissen Porcelain Lute Player, C. 1740.

Description

A fine Meissen porcelain figure, c. 1740. Modelled by Peter Reinicke, as seated man playing the lute. He wears a white coat, edged in puce and gilt, and yellow breeches. The irregular shaped base, applied with flowers and leaves.

Blue crossed swords mark to the rear of the base.

Height - 14 cm, 5 1/2”.

Width - 6 cm, 2 1/3”.

Depth - 10 cm, 4”.

Condition - Repair to his left leg, and end of lute.
