A rare octagonal shape soup bowl by Ralph Wedgwood and co, of Ferrybridge. Ralph Wedgwood was the eldest son of Thomas Wedgwood (cousin & partner of Josiah Wedgwood) he worked as a potter under the title Wedgwood & Co at the Hill Works, Burslem and later Ferrybridge. The factory is a rare one as it was relatively short-lived and not a prolific producer and closely associated with the more famous Wedgwood.The neoclassical design is typical of the factory as is the use of pratt type colours. The bowl is in perfect condition and bears the ‘Wedgwood and co’ impressed mark.
