Well-modelled parian-ware white china bust study mounted on a circular socle base . The hero of the Trojan wars depicted wearing his distinctive plumed helmet . The helmet with gilded detail highlights, with coiled serpent design to the fore .
. The china-ware pure white body named after the esteemed and valued white marble from the Greek island of Paros , was used in imitation of the precious stone . This example without a factory mark but of the highest quality and probably by Mintons .

In Greek Mythology, Achilles was a Greek hero of the Trojan wars and the central character and greatest warrior of Homer's Iliad . Said to be a Demi-god , his mother was the nymph Thetis and his father was Peleus , king of the Myrmidons .
