Description

This richly-coloured VICTORIAN MAJOLICA JARDINIERE AND STAND, decorated with WATER LILIES, dates from circa 1880.

The JARDINIERE has a drilled base for drainage so can be used for direct planting, if required - the matching STAND catching any runaway water.

The rich, liquid MAJOLICA glazes give the pottery a wonderful colour and sheen. The lilac tone on the inside is gorgeous.

Both the JARDINIERE and its STAND are in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. All I can see is some rubbing to the high points of the stand where the Jardiniere rests and a small glaze miss (in the making) to the outside of the yellow rim.

Filled with an Orchid, Aspidistra, Fern or an arrangement of fresh flowers this beautiful Jardiniere will come to life.
