English Hand-decorated Butterfly Tea Set C1860

Description

This beautiful ENGLISH TEA SET, consisting of FOUR CUPS, SAUCERS AND TEA PLATES, a CREAM JUG and BOWL and SANDWICH/CAKE PLATE (15 pieces in total), dates from circa 1860.

On a PALE MINT GREEN EAU-DE-NIL ground are painted FERNS, GRASSES and WILD FLOWERS, BUTTERFLIES and INSECTS, each one different. The pieces are a wonderful example of the Ceramic Decorator's Art.

The SET is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration.

Diameter of Tea Plates: 8 inches (20 cm)
