Description

A large, wonderful quality and most impressive Goldscheider TERRACOTTA FIGURE in superb condition. It depicts a Classical musician, her head resting on her left hand, seated on a 'Klismos' chair, with her right arm on a lyre. Wonderful colour and patina. Impressed marks to the base and signature of the artist: E. Tell. 62cms (24.5ins) high.

***The factory was founded by Frederick Goldscheider in 1885 and soon became the leading terracotta, faience and bronze manufactory in Austria. Famous for creating masterpieces of historical revivalism, the family emigrated to America and Britain in 1938.
