Description

This charming SUNDERLAND LUSTRE BUTTER DISH, dating from circa 1860, is decorated with a transfer print of SUNDERLAND CAST IRON BRIDGE to one side and a verse to the other:

'Here's a sigh to those who love me, And a smill (sic) to those who hate, And whatever sky's above me, Here's a heart for every fate'.

The overall condition is good. There is a small, thin surface chip to the rim of the cover and minor nicks, crazing and glaze rubs.

There is no restoration.
