Description

A rare Staffordshire pottery William Shakespeare quill holder, c. 1850. Well modelled as Shakespeare, seated holding a quill in his right hand, and a book in his left. His left foot resting upon a further book, a large vase to his left, forming the quill holder. Set upon an oval base, painted with a gilt line.

Height - 17.5 cm, 6 3/4”.

Condition - Minor wear to the overglaze black enamel. Otherwise perfect. No damage. No restoration.
