Japanese Imari Scalloped Shaped Serving Dish Dating To The First Quarter 18th Century

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Oliver Sargent Antiques

For sale a magnificent very rare Japanese Imari scalloped shaped serving dish, dating to the first quarter 18th century. I have been unable to find another or similar shaped dish of this type (possibly taken from a European Silver shape). This finely potted dish, with the exception to the original firing flaw, as show in the pics, is without any damage or restoration. The dish measures 28.3cm long by 18.2cm wide and 5.1cm deep. Worthy of any Museum collection it is decorated in underglaze blue, green enamel, red and gold, in a very striking design. Possibly a one-off design.
