For sale this very fine and rare Japanese Arita rectangular dish decorated in underglaze blue, red, gold and green, circa 1680. Measuring 3cm high by 12.2cm wide and 21.7cm long the dish is in undamaged condition apart from a foot rim defect that looks ta have been made before firing. The central well of the dish painted in strong underglaze blue tones picked put with gold, and red and green enamels. The sides if the dish painted with scrolling foliage in red and gold. It is very rare to find this type of decoration on this type of dish. The underside painted with scrolling foliage in underglaze blue, the foot rim with a further unusual design. Four-character Ming mark.
