Chinese Turqoise Glaze Phoenix Kangxi Mark

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a beautiful Chinese porcelain turquoise glazed phoenix on its original carved hardwood stand. In China the phoenix is deemed female and is said to be a symbol of high virtue and grace. The phoenix has a 6 character Kangxi mark to the base but is not of the period. This likely dates to the very early 20th century, circa 1910. The piece is in excellent order overall save for a minor glaze loss to the front corner of the base as photographed.

The piece measures 27 cms high 17cms wide by 11cms deep.
