Eighteenth Century Pearlware Teapot

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

The most charming late eighteenth century pearlware teapot. The teapot is painted in enamel colours very much like creamware and is probably a transitional piece. The motto on the front reads: ''For a kiss take this'' which was used in the Georgian period between lovers and most likely means this was a gift from a husband or a marriage gift. The teapot is in just lovely condition, there are a couple of very minor chips to the spout, and the base of the lid, but that is it. The enamel decoration is of typical floral sprays and as is often the case with over the glaze enamel colours there are some minor losses. This is a lovely and charming example of a Georgian teapot in excellent condition. C1790.
