Japanese Satsuma Koro and Silver Cover. Circa 1875

Description

On offer is this very fine Japanese Satsuma Koro with original Silver (white metal) cover dating to the last quarter of the 19th century. The main body decorated with birds above a sea of waves in Imperial deep blue, iron red and gilt with pale turquoise. The matching Silver cover also decorated the same. The Koro rim also mounted in Silver. Excellent condition with no damage or restoration. The Koro stands approx 12.5cm high. Satsuma Koro's with original silver covers are now rare to come by and this is a fine early piece.
