Early Wemyss Ware Strawberries Preserve Pot

1900 - 1920
Description

Early large size Wemyss ware preserve pot and cover. Decorated with strawberries in nice mellow colours. Rare to find one of these large ones complete.

Stamped underneath with the impressed mark of WEMYSS WARE with R.H & S which stands for ROBERT HERON & SON, the son being the basic inventor of Wemyss ware as a brand. Robert Heron & Son being one of the earlier pre Wemyss potteries.

Small crack near the base but it is not detrimental to this rare early piece.

SIZE; 4 1/2" diameter. 6 1/2" high
