Description

This well-modelled, well-coloured and lively ANTIQUE STAFFORDSHIRE FIGURE of JIM CROW dates from circa 1860.

He stands approximately 6.75 inches (17 cm) high.

The FIGURE is titled in GILT around the circular base. Charmingly, the Decorator has mis-spelt the surname, finishing with a letter which starts like an 'n' and finishes like a 'w'.

As can be clearly seen in the photographs, Jim Crow's left arm has been broken and reglued during its lifetime. The hand has also been off and reglued and the tips of the fingers and the thumb are missing. There is also a very tiny nick to the base of the footrim.

A charming ANTIQUE STAFFORDSHIRE FIGURE which would grace any collection.
