Fine Pair of Victorian Staffordshire Black & White Disraeli Dogs Circa 1860

Description

This charming Pair of Victorian Staffordshire Black and White Disreali Dogs date from circa 1860.

They stand approximately 10 inches (25.5 cm) high.

They are referred as Disraeli Dogs as the curls on the top of their heads mimicked the hairstyle of Benjamin Disraeli, the Victorian British Prime Minister.

Their condition is good. The right side Dog has an old visible seam line down one side. The left side Dog has a small, thin surface chip to one toe (please see photograph) and a glaze graze to the back toes which is shown in the same photograph. There is minor wear to the gilt.

There is no restoration.
