Shaun King Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Decorated with vibrant colours and lavish gilt embellishment, their quality is beyond question.

One of the Bases bears impressed numbers which indicates a Design Registration date of 1874. Both bear printed Copeland Marks, one of which states 'Copyright Reserved Copeland' and the other is the standard Copeland Mark for the period.

The last photograph shows the holes which the Manufacturer's have made in both bases.
Condition: The overall condition of the Lamp Bases is good. There is only minor wear to the gilt and paint work. One Lamp Base has a small surface chip to one animal's head handle. The other Lamp Base has an old star crack in the base, a small surface chip to the corner of one foot and a vertical hairline down the chevron extension to the animal's head which branches at right angles for a short distance. There is no restoration.
The LAMPS need rewiring.
