Description

A Flight, Barr and Barr Worcester Porcelain Entrée Dish c.1815 - 1820. Formed of three oval shaped sections, the domed lid with Strawberry moulded finial hightened in gold, the inner liner with solidly gilded gadrooned rim and the base with two solidly gilded handles either side.  Both the base and lid very finely decorated with a continuous band of hand painted roses around the edge. The central reserve decorated with a family crest, possibly that of the Milbanke family, which according to Fairbairns book of family crests is depicted as ‘’A Lion's head gules, collared ermine.’’

Condition: Excellent with just some minor wear to the gilding which has been re-touched in a couple of places.

A Regency period Flight, Barr and Barr Worcester porcelain entrée dish comprises an oval base, inner liner and domed lid, standing 20 cm high, 32 cm wide and 21 cm deep. The white porcelain body features hand-painted pink roses and green leaves in continuous bands around the edges, alongside a central circular reserve enclosing a red lion crest with a white and black ermine collar. Gold highlights accent the strawberry-moulded finial, the gadrooned rim, the two side handles and the borders, against a red surface in the photograph. Minor wear appears on the gilding, with a few re-touched areas. Today, such a decorative porcelain piece serves as a traditional dining table centrepiece or sideboard display item in a home, suitable for serving side dishes or functioning as a decorative container in a formal dining room or living space.
