Dutch Delft Blue & White Miniature Porcelain Armchair Chair Late 19th-Century

Brief Description:

This is a wonderfully decorative Dutch Delft-style Blue & White Porcelain Miniature Armchair, beautifully hand-painted with traditional Dutch landscape scenes.

Modelled in the form of an elaborate period armchair, the piece features a high shaped back, scrolling open arms, a generously proportioned seat and four elegant cabriole-style legs.

The chair is extensively decorated throughout in the traditional Delft blue and white palette, with particularly attractive hand-painted scenes depicting a Dutch windmill within a waterside landscape.

Further landscape decoration embellishes the seat, whilst the surrounding framework, arms, apron and legs are enriched with an abundance of floral, foliate and scrolling motifs, giving the little chair an exceptionally decorative appearance.

The wonderfully exaggerated Rococo-style form, combined with the quintessentially Dutch blue and white decoration, makes this a charming display piece that looks particularly attractive amongst other Delftware, ceramics or objets d'art.

Although miniature in scale, it has considerable presence and is an unusual alternative to the more commonly encountered Delft vases, plates and figures.
