A Worcester porcelain basket of oval shape with pierced walls with grooved straps and scalloped rim to create a woven effect. Daisy flowers applied to the intersections and rope twist moulded handles to each end with ornate terminals of individually applied leaves, flowers and buds. Of unusually small size, it is still practical but much daintier than the usual similarly formed Worcester baskets. The inside is printed with the pine cone pattern with diaper and garland border to the rim. The handles and applied flowers and leaves are all hand painted with blue highlights. Unmarked, c.1775.It measures 17.8cm (7'') by 15cm (5 7/8'') wide and 7.2cm (2 7/8'') high.Condition is excellent with damage, repair or restoration to the basket or handles. There are some usual minor losses to the applied leaves and petals at the handle terminals.
