Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Gien faience refers to fine tin-glazed earthenware produced by the Faiencerie de Gien, established in France in 1821. The manufactory became prominent for adopting classical, Renaissance, and regional decorative motifs on tableware and ornamental pottery throughout the nineteenth century.

Faience is composed of a refined earthenware ceramic body coated with an opaque white or dark tin enamel glaze. Decorative designs were hand-painted onto the unfired glaze or overglaze using mineral-based pigments before final kiln firing.

Authentic pieces typically feature stamped or painted maker marks on the underside, including variations of the Gien castle logo or painter initials. Inspection of the glaze depth, hand-painted details, weight, and characteristic age crackle helps verify period production.

A decorated ceramic pitcher serves as an effective focal point when placed on a minimalist sideboard, marble console, or open dining room shelving. Contrast the intricate detailed artwork against simple, neutral walls or rich timber surfaces.

Dust gently with a soft dry microfiber cloth. Avoid immersion in water, hot liquids, or abrasive chemical cleaners, as these can compromise historic glaze layers and cause glaze crazing.
