Japanese Imari porcelain bowl, Arita, c. 1700, Edo Period. The deep bowl of moulded chrysanthemum form, hand painted to the exterior, with continuous floral scroll, in underglaze blue, and Imari enamels.
The interior, painted with flower heads over textile inspired panels, alternating with panels of flowering plants.
Clove mark to the base, within an underglaze blue circle.
Diameter – 25.2 cm, 9 7/8”.
Height – 11.5 cm, 4 1/2”.
Condition – Two small chips to the rim. Wear to the enamel, especially the interior – please see images for detail. No restoration.
