Description

A refined pair of late 19th-century English moon flasks by Coalport, c.1880, superbly hand-painted with Continental harbour views.

Each flask is set on a rich claret ground and features a shaped cartouche with raised gilt and jewelled foliate scrollwork surrounding the finely detailed maritime scenes.

The reverse is decorated with a symmetrical arabesque motif in raised gilt and white enamel "jewels." Twin loop handles are highlighted in bright gilding.

Marked to the base with the green printed Coalport crown mark.

Height: 12.5 cm (4.9 in)

Condition: Excellent with only slight rubbing to the gilt on the handles.
